A Point of Interest for the 2021 Season
Boat owners are being advised by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to carry evidence of VAT status onboard their vessels ‘at all times’ in case of checks by customs officials. The Cruising Association says skippers cruising to and from the UK need to prepare now for the ‘bureaucracy of sailing’ post-Brexit
The National Coast Watch
The National Coast Watch are able to inform us that following suspension of their watch-keeping during the recent problems, they will be resuming watches from 1 June. For a while they will be operating single person watches from 0800 to 1700hrs each day. They aim to return to normal summer hours (0700 - 1900) and full staffing as soon as possible. They are available on VHF Channel 65 or on the phone 01305 860178
Owing to the present Corona situation all PYC events will be cancelled until further notice. Stay safe and well everyone.
A message from the WPCA re Boat Jumble
It is with considerable regret that the WPCA Committee have decided to postpone our annual Boat Jumble planned for Tuesday 24th March. We discussed the issue at length, and made this decision in view of the current situation, and the Government projection over the next two weeks, regarding 'Covid 19'. We consider it would be too great a risk to the 100 or so attendees, in close proximity in a confined space. We are monitoring the Government advice and if the situation changes we hope to hold it towards the end of April, but will keep you informed. We are really sorry about this, but hope you understand the difficulty we are in, and that you will continue to support us.
After a lot of discussion regarding the Coronavirus situation in relation to group functions, the committee feel that the launching supper should be postponed for the time being. Obviously if the situation improves, then we will try and re-arrange.
Details of the photographic competition and the PYC polo shirts, which were to be premiered at the supper, will be sent out shortly, hopefully with some stylish snaps for your edification.
Fingers crossed though that we can still all enjoy a good sailing season.

Met Office Visit
I have booked a visit to the Met Office in Exeter on 25th November 2017 at 11am. The tour will be adapted to have a saiing emphasis, so hopefully we will all learn a bit of useful information for our future cruising. The tour lasts about two and a half hours or so, depending upon how enthusistic the questioning is ! There are no costs involved other than making your own way there, and any refreshments and cuddly toys you may desire.
I need to get an idea of numbers as soon as possible, as if we have sufficient numbers, we will get the visit to ourselves, otherwise they will make up the slack from the public. So if you could let me know if you would like to join in or not, it would be greatly appreciated and would also confirm that my emails are reaching all PYC members.
